A Small Place
A Small Place is constructed from cherry wood, recycled redwood siding from my childhood home, copper, felt padding, straps made from a recycled Egyptian cotton pillow cover, and home-made blueberry muffins. The work inquires into our capacity to carry our homes with us and to create a sense of home wherever we go. The project exchanges gestures of generosity: home-made blueberry muffins for insight into what makes participants feel at home. It seeks to create comforting and safe environments, encouraging introspection and compassionate exchanges. These conversations function as primary research into people’s notions and beliefs about home.
