Nicholas Morris is a California-born artist, artisan and architect living and working in France. He obtained his BFA in sculpture with a minor in visual studies from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco and his Diplôme d’État (Master’s) in Architecture, Environnement & Cultures Constructives, with distinction from the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Grenoble.
He has several years of experience with the theory and practice of socially engaged art, and his works often take the form of pedagogical and building collaborations. He has organized projects and has exhibited both individually and collectively in the U.S., U.K., India and France.
His work has been recognized with several distinctions, including the Ronald & Anita Wornick Award for excellence in woodworking, the IMPACT social entrepreneurship award from the Center for Art and Public Life in Oakland, and multiple academic and artistic scholarships from the Université Grenoble Alpes. He was also named Étudiant Artiste de Haut Niveau at Université Grenoble Alpes from 2020–2022.
